Another summer, another major move by the struggling Los Angeles Lakers. After another season of intense drama and failure, the Lakers are showing the league that they will do whatever it takes to succeed again.

During the 2018-2019 regular season, Anthony Davis requested a trade from the New Orleans Pelicans in hopes of being put on a winning team. The Lakers immediately showed interest and even grabbed the attention of Adam Silver is thoughts of tampering with the All-Star from New Orleans. In order for the Lakers to receive Davis, they would have to give up a lot in return. That is exactly what they did. The Lakers traded Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart and 3 first-round draft picks, including this year’s 4th overall pick. Along with the trade, New Orleans inherited major distraction and father, figure  Lavar Ball, as well as gaining a lot of young, raw talent for the future.

After hearing about Lonzo being traded to the Pelicans, Lavar said “they’ll never win a championship again…this is the worst move in Lakers' Hisostry.”  Social media completely blew up as the news made headlines. This trade works out for both teams but in my opinion, the Pelicans won the trade. Not only did the Pelicans get good talent, they now have young veterans that can help Zion transition from Duke very easily and help him unlock even more potential. Yeah, so the Lakers now have 2 superstars, but this does not mean they will win right away. Their bench took a huge hit, as well as their plans for the future since they gave up all of those first rounders. The Lakers will most likely need to add at least one more piece in free agency to be legitimate finals contenders. Reports have surfaced stating that Kemba Walker and Jimmy Butler both reportedly being on the team's wish list, so expect the Lakers to try and make some more moves this summer.

This trade is just the beginning of a crazy and exciting NBA off-season and could reshape the league for many years to come. Who's ready?
